Yet another part of my rainbow series in that it contrasts sweeping, amorphous, rainbow-like shapes with rigid grey and white geometrical patterns. The new idea in this painting is the concept of metamorphosis. It was somewhat of a surprise to me when this abstract form, which was part of a spontaneous drip technique, turned into a butterfly. The bubbles are another aspect of the metamorphosis that took place.
