Autumn Sunset born in October 2023 is rich with darkness, subtle light, and bright accents over smokey mountains. This painting aims to create a sense of depth through shape and color. The painting displays angular shapes of soothing gradations of colors that are sometimes highly complementary when they meet at the seam or so subtle that the boundary between shapes seems to disappear. The sense of depth, and the subject itself (a sunset), both speak to the experience of a portal. The viewer is in the middle of being transported, in the portal, for once the sun sets, they will be in a new world, the world of darkness.
