I grew up in Northern Virginia and Paris France and have traveled extensively throughout my life until present circumstances have placed that pleasure on hold.
These experiences influence my painting choices. The landscapes that intrigue me are not the standard views, but ones unique to each location. I look for unusual and interesting perspectives in composing my paintings. I allow the atmosphere of each setting to inspire my composition, hues and values.
I am drawn to scenes where the contrast of light and shadow illuminates a specific moment and creates a special beauty and interest. This often occurs for me in scenes where man-made structures add their own beauty, show their age and imperfections and enhance our appreciation for the beauty of the natural world that surrounds them.
